salty, sweet, bitter, sour, umami- TASTE!

I wasn't going to write about this, but it's been such a fun week, and since the new PW issue is out, and it's not as timely, I can throw in a blurb.

Last week the TASTE supplement of Philadelphia Weekly did a feature on In Pursuit of Ale, my beer club for ladies in Philadelphia.
I was honored when they told me they wanted to do a piece on our beer guzzling gals, and the interview with Leah Blewett was fun as was the "photo shoot" of sorts-but I didn't expect the end result to be an 81/2 by 11. I think the photo was larger than any of my senior photo mantle pics.

So you can imagine how excited I was to go to the actual TASTE of Philly event at the Academy of Natural Sciences last Thursday. I had some work to do in the 'burbs, but I promised my date that I would be back by 6 and we would be tasting it up on the parkway.

That was until I crashed my car in Conshohocken at 5:40. yep. That delayed things just a bit.
I was pulling out of a parking lot during a break in traffic stopped at a red light...when another subaru came out of nowhere.

At first I thought it was my fault, but the officer blamed it on the nice young couple. I'll take it!
It was totally their fault being in the center turn lane forty feet too early! The most interesting part of the whole incident was how kind we were to each other, fellow subaru drivers!
It it was a lexus, things may have taken a different turn.

I don't get to the event until 8:05. Most of the Food is gone. But alas, EUREKA!
I found gold.
Golden Monkey that is and plenty of it.
I caught up with the night quickly...Ran into old friends, had an impromptu photo session outside MOORE college of art and design and then headed to the after party at Mission Grill.
but then the night caught up with me and I was in bed before the stroke of midnight.

The event featured 42 restaurants ranging from Philadelphia established staples, like City Tavern, to new comers like Yell O'bar and Chester County infant, Grady Davids.

**The next In pursuit of Ale meeting will be at The Belgian Cafe at 21st and green (check out for more details)
