Since Guacamole is mi corazon...I am quite content (obviously not surprised given the concept) to see it top off the menu at the upcomingDos Segundos Cantina on N. 2nd st.
Having had my share of Guac at Cantina Los Cabalitos and Royal Tavern (some of the best huevos rancheros in the city) over the last few years- I can only imagine The Simons- Frank- McKinney effort, Dos Segundos, will serve its own avocado at perfection.
For the miscreants that don't think you can enjoy American craft beer with Mexican Food-=-=Dos Segundos will provide a second opinion.
Sure you can find tecate at the Cantina on Passayunk, but you can also find Thomas Hooker IPA, Stone Arrogant Bastard and Sly Fox Saison.
I can only imagine their draft line up will be as evolving and exciting as the owners other efforts- the Khyber, the Royal, and Cantina Lost Cabalitos.
The menu is broken down into antojitos (starters), ensaladas, tacos/burritos/chimchangas, tortas and platos fuertes and of course postres for the dientes dulces out there .
An employee shared that this is Chef Mark Mckinney's favorite assembly yet.
(that sounded like I was writing for US magazine).
If Dos Segundos were open tonight and I had a dining companion ...this is what I would order...
Empanadas de Picadillo de Carne de Res - ground beef picadillo empanadas,
guacamole, chile de árbol salsa 9
Elote Asado - grilled corn on the cob with mayonnaise, cotija cheese,
powdered ancho chile, lime 3
Róbalo a la Plancha - grilled striped bass fillet, seville orange juice-serrano chile salsa,
amaranth salad, wild mexican greens 21and a little postres
They will have plenty of Vegan and Veggie kind options
