Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to all...
My apologies for not updating since Saturday.

I've been making Sly Christmas treat drop offs (more to do before the 1st), talking hops project, trying to make chestnut soup for the first time, barely having time to get presents.

But the day is here.
This is sunrise at around 7:20 this morning.
I went to midnight mass at the cathedral last night with my friend Bronwyn. It was nice to have a friend to go to church with. She wanted to hear the music she said. "Oh come all ye faithful" was a standout. Cardinal Justin Rigali celebrated the mass. I enjoyed hearing him speak. Sort of reminded me of the way my own father speaks. Phrasing words in a way that demands your ear and memory to take note. There are so many things he has said to me over the years, That I thought to self, "self remember this." This is good advice. This man knows what he's talking about... Whether it was my junior year paper on the ideology of communism during the Korean war, or a birds and bees talk on the drive to college as I as a freshman at Pennstate. And Cardinal Rigali made a few great points last night as well. Which I won't get into because I don't want to get what April annie calls "all churchy" on you. Its just a nice feeling to celebrate more than new sweaters and kitchen gizmos.

I came home from mass and made chili.
And this chili kicks my last chili's ass.
I might try to duplicate it for the Pope's second chili cook off on Superbowl Sunday.
I'll call it my "raspy chilly." I always have a bit of the rasp going on...but mostly because I used a bottle of old rasputin. So now the nephews probably won't be able to try. Totally selfish. I don't think the CArdinal mentioned anything about selflessless during the homily.

Merry Christmas to everyone.
Whether its Port Brewings Santa's Little Helper, Sly Fox Christmas, or a nice glass of tempranillo, cheers your friends and family, and relish in all the tidings of this time of year.

I hope to have several posts in the next few days.
Some fun pics, and nice wrap ups of 2008.
