I don't know why I am just finding out about this now, probably because it doesn't have an abv attached, but the very first "extreme relaxation drink" hit the market in January.
It's a barney-like purple- with much less energy than the lovable dinosaur.
It's designed to "calm and relax" you with ingredients such as Valerian Root, Rose Hips, and Melatonin. Its packaged conveniently in a can. It's the antithesis of redbull.
According to the almost all-knowing Wikipedia, Purple drank was common in the early 2000s in the hip-hop culture of the south. It was a mix of cough syrup with codeine, jolly ranchers for sweetness and color and sprite for some spritz.
The concoction has taken the lives of a few prominent in that scene, most notable DJ screw.
I am surprised that a beverage with such a controversial history would hit mainstream markets with the same name and color except as a tonic of sorts....
Has anyone seen this? Or tried this? Was your "roll" slowed?
